CCNA Lab Setup Instructions
Many customers often ask this question: Do you provide some Basic Setup Instructions for the CCNA/CCENT Lab?

The answer is absolutely YES! We have created a brief PDF file that provides these needed instructions. It also provides a quick explanation of why things are being connected in a certain way.

This document has two short sections: a WAN setup section and a LAN setup section. Both sections are short and very simple to follow, even for somebody with little experience. So please click on the above link to download the Lab Setup Instructions PDF file.

CCNA Lab: How to Get Started
Another frequent question is, once the Lab is setup, How do I start using it?

To answer this question we have created a document (in PDF format) which provides a quick jump-start guide. This document will give you a brief idea about the different types of exercises that you will find.

Most of these exercises can be completed with the Basic Kit. But others require some upgrades. Therefore, you may use this document to get a better idea of the types of upgrades that you might need. Please click on the above link to download the How to Get Started PDF file.

What is a Terminal Server Anyway
In case you are not familiar with Terminal Servers, this document explains what exactly a Terminal Server (TS) is and how you can benefit from having one in your Lab!

In general terms, a Terminal Server is a device that allows you to access multiple devices from a single point! That way you won’t have to keep switching Console cables to access each individual device.

This document also provides a configuration guide and some other details about this very useful device!

CCIE Sample Lab Scenario
The CCIE Lab Scenario given here is relatively simple, although it uses the same Topology employed by Internetwork Expert. That is, it uses 6 Main Routers and 4 Switches.

This sample Lab Scenario provides both, a problem description and the respective step-by-step solution to each of the different scenarios.

Please go back to the CCIE Labs Menu and please checkout the different CCIE Lab packages available.

Upcoming Revision to CCIE R&S Certification

The new Lab Exam includes the following main changes:

• The Catalyst 3550 is no longer part of the equipment list for the CCIE R&S

• A new MPLS section has been added to the the CCIE R&S Lab Exam

• A new Troubleshooting section has been added to the the CCIE R&S Lab Exam

Almost nothing has been taken away from the current CCIE Lab Exam. The new Blueprint includes the same topics of the 3.0 version, with the addition of the MPLS and the Troubleshooting sections.

The QoS functions of the Catalyst 3550 is the only section that is no longer part of it. However, that doesn't mean that they are useless, because they can still be used for the critical Routing section of the Lab Exam!

So until prices on the 3560's come down, the 3550's are still an excellent alternative and offer the BEST price/benefit ratio!
