The 2950C Switch has 24 Fast Ethernet Ports and it includes a couple of 100Base-FX (fiber) Uplink Ports. Uplink Ports are perfect for connections to a Higher Layer (Distribution or Core) and for connections to High Speed Servers.
The most important feature of this Switch is the fact that it runs an Enhanced Image instead of the Standard one (IOS 12.1.22-EA13)
An Enhanced Image offers several advantages over the Standard one, among them:
- Additional and Enhanced QoS commands and features
- 802.1w RSTP (Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol) support
- 802.1s MISTP (Multiple Instance Spanning Tree Protocol) support
Only models 2950C, 2950G and 2950T can run an Enhanced Image! The regular 2950 only supports the Standard Image. Although the Image file may be the same, it simply won't run in Enhanced mode in a regular 2950!
We also have models 2950T and 2950G available!
The pair of Gigabit Uplink Ports in the 2950T is a great and handy feature, especially for real-life applications, since these Gigabit Ports can be used to connect to High-Speed devices, such as Uplink Distribution Switches or Servers with Gigabit interfaces.
